The Lambeth Schools Athletics Championship took place on Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at Tooting Bec Athletics Track. The event saw the participation of 14 schools, and the weather conditions were ideal for the athletes. La Retraite students demonstrated their true athleticism and put up a great show at the championship.

The school took 52 athletes to the event, and they all performed exceptionally well. In the Year 7 category, Erych and Zainab both secured the 3rd place finishes in the hurdles. Amelia and Maya  also gave an impressive performance, both gaining 3rd place in the 1500m. Elisha  secured 2nd place in the 300m.

Gillian  and Letizia gave a great performance in the jumps and throws, respectively. The relay teams also put up an impressive show, with the Year 7 team consisting of Kourtney, Tayo, Mandisa, and Sydney securing 3rd place.

There were also many other notable achievements from students of different year groups. Niamh  and Kaila from Year 8 performed well in the 100m and 200m sprints. Year 8 students Yolanda, Esme, Lisa, Winifred, Juanita, Sumaya, Shante, and Rebecca also gave a noteworthy performance. Year 9 students Yasmin ,Akua, Talliya, Quasi, Angelica, Nishiya, and Kimaya also put up a great show. Faith from Year 10 secured 2nd place in the 100m, while Anais, Ike, Tahara , Oyin, Marika, Bemi, Ornerlia, Calista, Mariam, Tiifeni and Kazia gave impressive performances in their respective events.

In conclusion, it was a great day for La Retraite students at the Lambeth Schools Athletics Championship. Congratulations to all the athletes who participated and gave their best. The school takes pride in its students' achievements in sports and acknowledges the importance of sports in schools. We look forward to seeing more great performances from La Retraite athletes in the future.
