La Retraite’s Legacy of Academic Excellence Continues to Grow

This year, we are thrilled to celebrate the successes and outstanding achievements of our GCSE students, building upon the accomplishments of the our existing and impressive legacy.

Despite a difficult two years for students, they have taken each step with confidence and a commitment towards their studies. The results achieved are the truly deserved rewards of their hard work, and a testament to their resilience and the dedication and support of staff.

Students have excellent across a number of subjects and the percentage of students achieving top grades remains impressive, alongside many individual stories of dedication and achievement. Subject highlights and spectacular individual performances include:

  • 75% of students achieved five grades level 4+ including English and maths 
  • 60% of students achieved five grades Level 5+ including English and Maths 
  • 83% of students achieved Level 5+ in English 
  • 73% of students achieved Level 5+ in Maths 
  • 70% of our students gained a 5 or above in both English and Maths
  • 82% of students achieved Grade 4 and above, nine percentage points above the national average
  • 67% of students achieved Grade 5 and above
  • 27% of students achieved Grade 7 and above
  • La Retraite’s highest achiever Lydia celebrates an impressive nine Grade 9s in Spanish, RE, Physics, Maths, History, Geography, Chemistry, Biology and Classical Civilisation, alongside two Grade 8s in English Literature and Language
  • Twins Taiwo and Kehinde achieved 9999888887 in History, Sociology, Biology, RE, Chemistry, Maths, English Literature and English Language and 98888876 in Sociology, RE, Physics, Maths, History, Chemistry, Biology, English Literature, English Language and Spanish respectively
  • Lilian celebrates attaining 9888888876 in Biology, Art, English Literature and Language, History, Maths, Physics, RE, Chemistry and French and will be returning in September to the La Retraite 6 to study Maths, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Ines will be returning to the La Retraite 6 to study Further Maths, Maths, Chemistry and Portuguese after receiving impressive results of 9998888877 in Maths, Biology, French, RE, Fine Art, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, English Literature.

This follows a successful set of results from the La Retraite 6, which saw in the first ever T Level cohort, 100% of students pass their exams, exceeding national averages, and an incredible 62% of students attaining A*-B grades.

We are delighted with the number of students staying on at the La Retraite 6, with many commenting on being inspired the successes of the sixth form students, and the exciting course breadth. The La Retraite 6, one of the first centres in the country to pioneer T Level education alongside A Levels and Cambridge Technicals. 

Head of Year 11, Mrs Appiah-Kubi, commented: “Well done to all of our GCSE students. They deserve every success they have achieved and should be delighted of the opportunities they have secured for the future. I am sure that with these successful foundations built, students will continue to flourish. I would like to extend a thank you to our staff for their endless support and dedication to our students”.

 

Headteacher, Dominic Malins commented: “Congratulations to the class of 2022, securing outstanding results and making remarkable progress.  Amongst this GCSE cohort there are many individual stories of hard work, ability and commitment and I commend all involved for all that they have achieved and look forward to welcoming them back in September to the sixth form, or as part of our alumni: the La Retraite Legacy”.
