Welcoming Andrea to the StagePosted on: 25th Mar 2022
The return of assemblies is a particular delight for musicians in school, as it is an opportunity for them to play or sing repertoire in front of a larger audience. Over the last two weeks, Andrea, Year 10, has been wowing students in assembly with her piano playing.
Andrea has been learning the piano for the last eleven years, so has now reached the point where she is able to access and enjoy more advanced repertoire. In assembly she played a variety of pieces, such as an Allegro by Mozart, Red Swan by the Japanese composer Yoshiki and pieces composed by herself. Andrea’s current favourite composer is Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), and she is in the process of learning his waltz in C# minor.
Andrea plans to continue learning the piano for many more years to come. As well as being a fun thing to do, she also believes that the experience of performing in front of so many people, although daunting at first, is great for her confidence in all sorts of settings.
