On September 23rd, the Minister for Skills Alex Burghart visited the La Retraite 6, to meet with their first set of successful Digital, Childcare and Education and Transition T Level students.
In August 2021, the first T Level cohort celebrated a resounding success:

- Students Shechinah, Katty, Karoline and Keziah all achieved A grades on the Digital T Level.
- Students Maameyaa, Courtney, Hannah, Selena, Leah, Jacqueline, Karen, Salamat, Affoue, Verenice and Jennifer all achieved A grades for Childcare and Education.
- 100% of students passed their core exams and employer set project for the Digital and Childcare and Education T Levels and transition students successfully completed their course.
- Vocational results go from strength to strength, with nearly 70% of learners achieving Distinction*.
Minister Burghart also had the opportunity to visit the brand new sixth form centre at La Retraite 6, the Aya Centre, furnished with a dedicated common room and study spaces, computer suites and media facilities. Whilst at the sixth form, the Minister proudly shared with staff and students that the sixth form will receive funding of £2 million, to build a complementary space for Construction, Health Midwifery and Media T Level facilities, the Novello Centre.
“I was thrilled to welcome the Apprenticeships and Skills Minster to our outstanding sixth form and meet our students, to witness for himself the fantastic facilities and education our students receive, alongside speak with them directly to find out how our T Level education is positively impacting them and enabling them to progress onto their chosen pathways, equipped with the knowledge and experiences they need. We look forward to expanding our offer upon the announcement of further funding and serving the young people of our community with this exciting and dynamic approach to education." La Retraite 6 Director Ruth Coyle.
Upon visiting the La Retraite 6, Minister Burghart commented: “It was a pleasure to meet with the students and staff at La Retraite sixth form for my first visit as an education minister. It was fantastic to join those studying for our pioneering Digital and Childcare T Levels in their new sixth form centre and see first-hand how young people are gaining the skills they will need for the careers of tomorrow. Thank you again for the warm welcome and I wish the students every success for the future."
The La Retraite 6 is founded upon an offer that equips every student with the experiences, knowledge and attributes to succeed in an ever-changing and ever-advancing world and embark on their chosen future pathway. The sixth form continues to expand its offer for students, launching Health and Midwifery from September 2022 and Media to its T Level syllabus in September 2023.
