Trips and Experiences
Woven into the curriculum to complement academic studies and offer real-life learning experiences, our menu of trips are highly rewarding and introduce students to new things they may not have had the opportunity to experience before.
At La Retraite, every student is encouraged to take on positions of responsibility and explore the different pathways to ignite their aspirations. We aim to support students by developing their understanding of their career options and provide opportunities to gain real-life experience, enabling learners to make informed decisions and feel equipped for their chosen route, with an array of desirable attributes under their belt.
The La Retraite Giving Back Programme inspires our girls to work together, to contribute to their community. Through fundraising, support, volunteering and companionship, our girls are shown what it means to be empathetic and active citizens, ready to take their place in the world.
Scholarships to provide students with practical experience and equip them with skills and knowledge to support their future aspirations. Through a menu of workshops, additional language subjects and enrichment activity, our girls are challenged and mentored to prepare and succeed.
Throughout the school year our music offer incorporates concerts, services, competitions, and events, including invitations to perform at ensembles outside of school, ranging from performances in London concert Halls and cathedrals, to Sunday mass services at our local parish churches.
Students can get involved in these events by joining our various performance groups including choirs, orchestras, and bands. In addition, a music tour abroad takes place annually. Recent tours include singing in Bruges Cathedral (& Euro Disney. The department also regularly hosts trips to see concerts, operas and shows in the West End.
Students can apply to learn a musical instrument with a specialist teacher. We offer tuition in most instruments, from violin to electric guitar, trumpet to saxophone. The school will pay for a large amount of the cost of these lessons, with parents asked to pay just a small contribution.
Our music instrument teachers are all highly accomplished at performing and teaching their instruments. When they are not teaching in school, they often perform with famous artists and orchestras, so you will be learning from the very best on how to become a great performer yourself.
A dedication to pastoral care, positive and strong relationships at school and with families and careful monitoring of progress and understanding ensures the needs of every student is met, in addition to supporting every student at every stage of their journey. Coupled with an array of celebration and enrichment events throughout the year, the personalities, passions, and aspirations of every student in our care is cherished.
